George Galloway MP to present petition to Tower Hamlets Council demanding the withdrawal of the Columbia Estates from Housing Choice.
The Columbia Estates Defend Council Housing Group has collected over 500 signatures, over 400 of which are from tenants, demanding the withdrawal of their estate from the Council's controversial Housing Choice programme, which has been recently denounced as an "abuse of democracy and tenants rights'.
George Galloway will be presenting the petition to Tower Hamlets Council, Clove, Crescent, Mulberry Place, London E14 at 7pm on Monday 23rd May 2005.
Over 70% of Columbia Estates tenants OPPOSE the proposed transfer to the Guinness Trust. Residents are fed up of being blackmailed by the Council and bribed by the Guinness Trust. We demand that the millions of pounds from our rents and right to buy sales be spent on improving our estates and not on "Housing Choice' propaganda'
