Mumbai, 3 August, 2009: Indian School of Business, Hyderabad has collaborated with FRED (Foundation of Research & Education Development) to host the 24th annual world conference of the International Organizational Development Association (IODA) head quartered in Europe and the 4th annual Asia OD network. This is for the first time that OD Practioners, Consultants and Academicians from over 32 Countries are coming together to discuss and deliberate on Fusion of Eastern and Western Principles - Creating Sustainable Development through Organizational Development (OD)- the theme of Global OD Summit (GODS),2009.
Organization Development is the process that enables an Organization to manage change (and transformation) and increase it's effectiveness by making critical interventions in its various processes, policies and structures. Successful OD ends up aligning people, processes and policies with organizational goals and structures.
"Many of the change and transformation processes are experimented in the organizations in the West and refined to a great extent. Societal, community and personal transformation has been of significant interest in the East and by learning both approaches and fusing the best practices, principles and perspectives, we can make OD to be more relevant in knowledge organizations around the world," Observes Dr. Prasad Kaipa, Executive Director, CLIC, ISB, Hyderabad.
Mr. O.P Bhatt, Chairman, State Bank of India, will inaugurate the summit and will address the delegates by taking through the transformation journey of SBI, the largest Banking system in India. Mr. Sivakumar, CEO, ITC e- Choupal will deliver the valedictory address.
Dr Mohanakrishnan, Academic Director, FRED India and Chair of GODS 2009, points
"It’s an academic summit and we have endeavored to bring people from all over the world to India to evolve a holistic OD approach. As is true in other fields, India has made phenomenal contributions in the field of Organization Development and continues to create new benchmarks."
Change, which is inevitable law of nature, is always accompanied by challenges and competition. "When we take the challenges on by transforming ourselves and our organizations, we create synergistic evolution." Adds Dr. Kaipa.
Prof. John D Adams, Executive faculty, SayBrook, Graduate School and Research Center, whose expertise has influenced many minds across the globe, "Organization Development (OD) has been an effective people centered and values based approach to facilitating changes for the past 50 years. It grew up first in the US but has been actively practiced in India for almost as long, due to a variety of Indo-UK and Indo-American collaborations. In these days of rapidly increasing globalization, technology driven speed, and increasing complexity, OD continues to evolve to provide effective coaching, training, planning and change support to all kinds of public and private organizations the world over."
These emerging trends and forces are changing the context in which organizations function, how they relate to their communities, and the capabilities of their leaders for keeping up with externally driven requirements to change."
"Today's complex environments compel organizations and communities to effectively adapt and thrive in today’s world, these units need to implement effective OD interventions aimed at improving performance. OD tools and practices are not limited to Organizations, it transcends to society and Communities. The context of OD is always culture and GODS 2009, will enable OD Practioners, Academicians and Consultants s from 32 Countries to engage with one another in India.", remarks Vinaya Shetty, Co- Chair, GODS 2009 which is being held from 19 August - 22 August 2009,ISB,Hyderabad.To register log on to www.odsummitindia.org
