Six Degrees of Separation?
Whilst we should rightly embrace the growth of social networking sites for being exactly what they set out to be; a great way to keep in touch with family, friends and as a means of expanding social horizons into areas that people may never have considered before.
It may appear at first glance that Private Investigation has no connection to this but it would seem that the positives have a dark negative side and what makes it so great is also what makes it so dangerous, the people who use them and human nature itself.
How many times have you read recently about how someone posted that their parents are away on holiday and announce that they will having a party in their absence, only to find a few hundred extra uninvited guests arrive and destroy the house? Or how a stalker can gain personal information about the individual that they have developed an unhealthy interest in? What about the spouses who have looked up an old flame and have ended up entering into an adulterous affair?
This is not even a comprehensive list, we could mention cyber bullying and taunting, loss of employment through the posting of information or photographs about a social event attended on the day they were off work claiming to be ill, grooming of children and a whole host more.
These stories are all out there in the public domain and seem to be increasing in number and part of the reason for this is the ease at which someone can access personal information and act upon it. It has been stated we are all only 'six degrees of separation’ away from everyone else in the world and my own belief is that social networking sites have cut this down dramatically.
What this piece is about are the innocents who are affected by the aftermath of such behaviour, detailing a course of action open to them to help determine if indeed their partner has endangered their present relationship with an adulterous affair and how to move on if they have.
The whys and wherefores for this type of behaviour are many fold, ranging from attaining an ego boost to plain old boredom with their present partner. But regardless of the reasons why, they all have one thing in common; they all leave behind a victim who has experienced that sick hollow feeling of realising they have been betrayed.
