An effective way to reach out to secondary school students for an important message

Over a 3 months period, 32 schools and junior college students had learnt the mission of Babes Pregnancy Crisis Support Ltd. The students and teachers from these schools learnt that a 24-hour SMS helpline is available to help those who need help on the issue of teenage pregnancy, and competent workers are always ready to listen to their issues and discuss the various options available to help make informed decisions. Once a decision is made, they would assist in providing necessary support, and link the young ones with the appropriate resources.

We are honoured to offer our exclusive distribution channel for Babes Pregnancy Crisis Support Ltd to help them reach out to the young students to let them know what resources are available should they need help." More than 64,000 impressions were made through the 3-months campaign out of which 56% were students from the secondary schools. Some of the feedback collected from the students were:

"At first glance, I thought this ad is strange because I couldn’t think of anyone who would need to know about this. Later, as my friends and I were chit-chatting, we realized that this message will be a great help to those who are in need. – Ting, NYJC

"This will be good information or warning for the boys as well." – Wanyi, Boon Lay Secondary School

"Not that I will ever need this service, but at least now I know there is such an organization for young pregnant mothers." – Raj, Clementi Town Secondary School

"I feel shy to use the cups. But I am are of the message as I see the message from my friends’ cups when they buy drinks from the drink stall." – Benjamin, New Town Secondary School

Integrating this innovative awareness campaign via free cups advertising with social media platforms, bloggers, bus stop ads campaigns, focus group discussions, roadshows, the organization has assisted more than 500 cases in a pregnancy crisis (2005 – 2016).  

Only through continuous generosity support, partnership, and volunteering work by many, more young people will be made aware that there is an organization ready to help them for all teenagers facing a pregnancy crisis.

About the campaign

A 3-month awareness campaign was jointly created by Babes Pregnancy Crisis Support Ltd and Cups Media Pte Ltd. 32 secondary schools and junior colleges, from all across the island, received the awareness campaign messages via free cups advertising, which contain the key mission of the organization to enable teenagers aware the help available should them or their friends need help. More than 64,000 impressions were made and there was NONE complaints received from students, parents and teachers. Students and teachers see the key messages via paper cups when they are drinking tea, coffee, or their juices. The schools received the quality paper cups totally free of charge – they do not pay for the production, transportation, logistic or storage of the paper cups. Thus, the campaign also saved the schools to save actual cost as well.
