In their quest for user safety, BIL Group have created a range of ergonomic wheels and tested them against other types of wheel material, both from their own standard range and also those available in the marketplace. The tests measured the effort needed to start a truck moving and then maintain that movement.
Many musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) tend to develop over time caused either by the work itself or by the employees' working environment. Typically repetitive stress injuries can occur simply through the action of pushing or pulling a heavy trolley for sustained periods. The use of ergonomic wheels in these situations will positively enhance productivity and even improve efficiency whilst protecting the health and safety of the individual.
The special compound used for the tyres reduces hysteresis and also improves relative wear qualities, reduces noise and improves the ability to overcome the interference from small debris such as swarf on the factory floor. All in all, a win-win result.
The BIL Green Ergonomic SRPTA wheel outperformed all other tested wheel types of the same class. The combination of polyurethane wheel with 85 Shore A hardness and crown tread gave outstanding performance. The industry-leading wheel greatly reduces the amount of effort required to maintain straight-line movement and start-up coefficient. This enhances the ergonomics of any trolleys fitted with these wheels, which are rated at 16kph for speed and power towing.
