In this interactive, online presentation, practitioners will discuss the trends they are seeing in recent IRS audits, including that challenging premium deductibility and addressing federal excise tax liability, and the steps that can be taken to prepare for them.
Gary Bowers, CPA is Tax Partner at the multi-office CPA firm of Johnson Lambert & Co. LLP. Gary has served the financial services industry throughout his 22-year career and has worked exclusively with insurance companies in helping them to plan their tax strategies. Gary has extensive experience in dealing with corporate tax planning issues, corporate tax compliance, reorganizations and negotiations with the Internal Revenue Service to resolve issues. He also has had experience in dealing with the national office of the Internal Revenue Service related to private letter rulings and change in accounting method requests.
Gary believes in a proactive approach to taxation matters through a complete understanding of your business and its objective. He regularly speaks on taxation matters for IASA, CICA, SCCIA and VCIA. He has also authored several articles for the National Underwriter, Captive Review 2004 and for CICA. After earning his B.B.A. degree at the University of Georgia, Gary attended Georgia State University where he earned the equivalent of a Masters in Taxation.
