The Doobie Brothers, enduring global icons of rock, will hold a benefit concert starting 6 p.m., on Saturday October 8, 2011, at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention Centre, Expo Drive, Wanchai, Hong Kong.
Entitled "World Gone Crazy," after their 2010 CD of the same name, the fundraising concert will be held during the 10th Anniversary Charity Ball of the Foreign Correspondents' Club Hong Kong Charity Fund.
According to David Garcia Hong Kong FCC Charity Fund Founding Chairman, the Doobie Brothers have been well-known over the years for their support and involvement in various charitable causes, worldwide.
The Doobie Brothers are the latest in an impressive and long list of world-renowned artists who have performed during the past years' FCCHK Charity Ball. These luminaries in the world of music have included among others, Blondie, Jimmy Buffett, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Toto, Santana, Journey, and Steppenwolf (performing as the World Class Rockers), Sergio Mendes, the Beach Boys and the Charlie Daniels Band.
The FCC Charity Ball is the yearly major fundraiser of the FCC HK Charity Fund. Over the past decade, the Charity Fund has thrived through the generosity of numerous individuals and corporate sponsors who have been helping address the education of Hong Kong's neediest children.
Tickets to the Charity Ball are priced at HK$2088, inclusive of dinner and free drinks all night.
The annual black tie event has been consistently held in aid of the Po Leung Kuk (PLK) and its beneficiaries, particularly in the areas of Language Training, support of a Children’s Learning Centre, a Child Development Programme, the provision of Scholarship Funds and an Education Services Centre.
David Garcia Hong Kong Charities notes that PLK, a highly-respected Hong Kong social services organization, has housed, helped to educate, and taken care of numerous indigent children from different parts of Hong Kong.
Through the coming fundraising concert headlined by the Doobie Brothers, more support of the charities will surely be realized. The FCC HK Charity Ball has always been popular for coming up not only with prime quality entertainment, but also making sure that the outcome helps to improve the lives of children, consequently building a stronger future.
This year's fundraiser is being held in aid of the PLK/UBS/FCC Language Training Program, the PLK/Merrill Lynch/FCC Children’s Learning Centre, the PLK/UBS/FCC Child Development Program, the PLK/Henrik Nielsen/FCC Scholarship Fund, and the Po Leung Kuk/Sprouts Foundation/FCC Education Services Centre.
